Juan Diego Martínez García

Before founding SerranoMartinez in February of 2017, Juan Diego worked as senior associate in the corporate and M&A team of one of the largest firms in Colombia (Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría (2012 - 2016) and Leal Angarita & Asociados (2010-2012)).

He also worked as legal subdirector of the Air Transport Association in Colombia (ATAC) (2007-2009), as well as a lawyer of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (2005-2006). He has published articles in different specialized law reviews and is lecturer of contracts at Javeriana University.

Juan Diego has been recognized in “The Legal 500” for heading one of the leading practices in Colombia for corporate law and M&A.

Felipe Serrano Pinilla

Felipe focuses his practice in competition law and corporate litigation.

Before founding SerranoMartinez, Felipe was Chief Advisor at Colombia’s Antitrust Agency (Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio - SIC), as well as Deputy Head of the Agency. At the SIC Felipe was in charge of heading decisions on competition law cases, including cartels, abuses of dominance and mergers. He has also worked at the litigation department of major Colombian law firms in competition law cases and complex litigation matters. He is Adjunct Professor of Competition Law at Javeriana, Andes and Externado Universities in Colombia. He was a Member of the Expert Commission appointed by the President of Colombia in 2015 to reform Colombia’s antitrust leniency regime. He has published papers in different law reviews and is a frequent speaker at national and international events related to his areas of practice. Felipe is admitted to practice in Colombia and the State of New York, USA. 

At Serranomartinez Felipe represents and advises major companies in competition law matters, including clients in the oil and gas, retail, airline, ports, high-tech and beverages sectors. Felipe has been recognized by The Legal 500 for heading one of the leading Competition Practices in Colombia.

Anamaría Rico

Anamaría focuses her practice on competition law, mainly in legal advice and resolution of disputes in matters related to unfair competition and anti-competitive practices with the National Competition Authority (Superintendence of Industry and Commerce).

Before joining SerranoMartinez, Anamaría handled complex antitrust investigations at Colombia´s Competition Authority. She participated in important decisions to sanction cartels and in the application that was first given to the antitrust leniency regime. Anamaría combines a solid legal background with a practical approach acquired during her time at the agency.

Anamaría was awarded with an academic excellence scholarship granted by Universidad del Rosario to study her Bachelor of Laws and graduated as a lawyer with a minor in commercial law. She has a postgraduate degree in commercial law from Universidad de los Andes.

As an associate in SerranoMartinez, Anamaría has advising major companies in competition law matters.

Antonio Gómez

Associate

Antonio focuses his practice in corporate law and state planning. He has a Bachelor of Laws with a minor in commercial law from Universidad del Rosario, and a postgraduate degree in financial and economic law from the same institution.

Over the last few years, Antonio has advised companies and financial institutions on corporate and financial cross-border matters, including on the preparation, review and negotiation of loan agreements, shareholder agreements, joint venture agreements and many other types of contracts.

Antonio has also advised national and international clients on the incorporation and operation of investment vehicles in Colombia and other jurisdictions, corporate reorganizations, pre–merger authorizations before Colombian authorities, legal due diligence, among other corporate and financial activities.

Before joining SerranoMartinez, Antonio worked as an associate in the firms Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría, and Cardozo Coral & Abogados in the Financial Services Practice team.

Maria Camila Cárdenas

Maria Camila is a member of the litigiation and arbitration practice at SerranoMartinez, and specializes in corporate and competition litigation, as well as in national arbitration proceedings.

Maria Camila represents and advices a wide range of clients as private companies in commercial matters, including corporate and financial law, shareholders disputes, insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings. She also represents and advises clients in competition and trademarks litigation before judicial and administrative authorities. She provides accompaniment in all phases of the litigation from the investigation, pleadings, and discovery through the pre-trial, trial, settlement, and appeal processes.

Before joining in SerranoMartinez, Maria Camila worked as an associate in G.Herrera &Associates, in comercial and financial litigation before domestic courts and other kinds of adversarial legal proceedings such as arbitrations and mediations, representing companies in the financial sector.

Mateo Gómez

Mateo graduated Cum Laude from Universidad de los Andes and has extensive experience in M&A and banking and finance law.

Between 2015 and 2016, Mateo was a lawyer for the Vice Presidency and the General Secretary of Leasing Bancoldex S.A. In 2016, Mateo was a lecturer in the annual meeting of the Latin American Association of Law and Economics (ALACDE) in Santiago de Chile.Between 2016 and 2017, he was a lawyer at the firm Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría, where he advised local and foreign clients in M&A, corporate matters and in the structuring of public tender offers and other matters in capital markets, including the acquisition of Isagen S.A. E.S.P., one of the largest energy companies in Colombia, by Brookfield Asset Management LLC. He also advised Grupo Argos in the acquisition of a 45% stake in Odinsa S.A. through the first exchange public tender offer in Colombia.

Verónica is a law student at Universidad de los Andes and is currently finishing her ninth semester. She completed a semester abroad at the Carlos III University of Madrid. Through her late semesters, Verónica has focused her interest in Antitrust law and Public Policy. She has also been working as a teaching assistant of Antitrust law and Procedural Law classes. 

Before joining the team, Verónica made her academic practice in Antitrust Law at SerranoMartinez.

As a paralegal in SerranoMartinez, Verónica focuses her professional practice in Antitrust Law.

Luis Hofmann

BIO

Luis focuses his practice primarily on the areas of Corporate and Financial Law. Since his admission to practice law in Colombia, Luis has advised national and international clients on the incorporation of investment vehicles in Colombia, drafting and reviewing of civil and commercial agreements, the purchase and sale of assets or corporate stakes in Colombia, estate planning for individuals or closely held businesses and procedures or filings before the Financial Superintendency, Colombia’s Antitrust Agency (i.e. Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio) and the National Agency for the supervision of Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies and Corporations (i.e. Superintendencia de Sociedades).

Prior to joining Serranomartinez, Luis worked as Coordinator of Financial and Corporate Affairs at Seguros SURA Colombia and as Associate at Brigard & Urrutia, DLA Piper Colombia, and Arrieta, Mantilla & Asociados. He has been author or collaborator of articles published by the World Bank, The Inernational Capital Markets Review, the Colombian Central Bank and a national journal called La República.

During his undergraduate studies, Luis received a scholarship for his academic performance, the Recognition of Academic Excellence granted by the rector of the Rosario University and was member of the wining team of the Investment Arbitration Moot Court organized by the Washington College of Law of American University.

Nicolás Arenas Gutiérrez

Nicolás is a Law student from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. He made an academic exchange program of Law at the Universitat Autónoma in Barcelona / Spain. Nicolás has enforced his studies in Corporate and Commercial Law.

As a student, he is monitor of Bienes II lecture, member of the investigation group of Private Law and investigation group of Corporate Law of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Currently he is making his emphasis of the degree in business law.

Before joining the group, Nicolás worked on a commercial company helping in the negotiation of different agreements and the corporate structuring of the company itself. Also, he made his internship on corporate law at SerranoMartinez.
